Best Gate on the Market!

Worth Every Penny! We bought the new kiddy guard gate as soon as my soon began to crawl a few months back after doing a lot of research on many different gates. It seems expensive compared to other gates, but you will see why, once you use it for a few weeks. We use ours at the top of our very steep stairs so we can let our 13 month old son roam around as he pleases on our upper level. It is built for use at the top of the stairs and is very rigid when closed and can handle quite a bit of weight against it. I feel 100% safe when it is up and have no worries about my son playing near it. My husband wanted to purchase it because he does not like the look of normal baby gates all around the house and not only is it black and silver so it blends with our modern décor and hides any dirt, it also is very easy to retract. We use our stairs a lot and its really great that we can retract the gate with one hand to go back and forth thru it. We love this gate so much that we are going to buy a second one for the bottom of the stairs as soon as my son shows interest in climbing the stairs. Now that we have owned the kiddyguard for a few months, I can't imagine having to deal with any other type of baby gate getting in the way all of the time.
Also, we own 2 cats, and they have learned to squeeze under the gate in order to get up and down the stairs, so we don't have to worry about them being locked on the wrong level by the gate. Don't worry though, there is no possibly way a child or baby can sneak under there. Cats can get through some pretty tiny spaces. It's just an added bonus that its one less thing for us to worry about with owning the kiddyguard.
Also, a tip, is that the gate quietly retracts in unlocked mode. If you accidentally leave it in lock mode when you open it, it will retract loudly, but that is only because you are not supposed to do it in that mode. The gate is located right next to my son's nursery and he never hears the sound of it opening as long as it's on the correct mode.

Exactlly what we wanted, But use your own QUALITY screws

This is exactly what my wife and I were looking for, for our home and child. We love how the mesh gate retracts instead of swinging out or having to be removed like most hard gets. It leaves a really small footprint in our condo and fits our design and decorating style well. One problem, make sure you have extra screws on hand. the hardware that is packaged with this SUCKS! Yes, that's capital, S, U, C, K, S, exclamation point, SUCKS! I popped the head off just about every screw this came with, so it made the install a PITA. Screwing in the screw, popping the head, getting vice grips to back the headless screw out, finding a new screw in my hardware box, screwing it back in with the new screw. Do it again with the next screw, but this time I have to back out the previous screw so that I can get the vice grips between the mount and the wall to get to the screw that just popped it's head. A half hour job took 2 hours. And yes, I drilled a pilot hole for all the screws before I started.
I'm torn between 3 or 4 four stars, but will give it 4 for being a well designed product and for being one of few retractable gates.

This product looks SOOOO much better than most baby gates. It works, it's safe and if you install it correctly I don't see a toddler figuring it out to easily.
The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it's a little tricky to open and close. You have to turn the knob to release the mesh then pull it out and get it into position before the knob turns back to the locked position. Don't get me wrong, it works just fine and I can't think of a better way for it to work. It's just a little tough when you have an arm full of squirming toddler to operate.
overall though, I love it, and if it were a little less expensive I'd probably buy a few more.
